OUR PHILOSOPHY

PROFESSIONAL HELP BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING

We are therapeutic learning and educational specialists who believe that in order to make effective choices for your family, you need some measure of hope. And in order to feel hopeful, you need to know that you are supported and understood.

The Romeyn Collective strives to provide that hope and support with services delivered by a compassionate, qualified team. Our aim is to match client families with the professional within our Collective that is best suited to deliver the relevant education, information and opportunity for moving forward into effective, sustainable, solutions.

The Romeyn Collective is completely independent and receives no payment or compensation from therapeutic providers. We work solely for the benefit of our families and clients, and we adhere to the standards of excellence and principals of good practice.

I’m not a parenting expert. In fact, I’m not sure that I even believe in the idea of ‘parenting experts.’  I’m an engaged, imperfect parent and a passionate researcher. I’m an experienced mapmaker and a stumbling traveler. Like many of you, parenting is by far my boldest and most daring adventure.

Nina Rubinstein McDaniel brings more than a decade of experience in college admissions to the Romeyn Collective as a college counselor, essay specialist, alumni interviewer, and parent of teenagers. While Nina works with a broad range of students in her practice, serving neurotypical learners, students applying to all types of colleges, and those exploring gap years and other post-secondary options, she also specializes in supporting students with neurodivergence, learning differences, and diverse life circumstances. Nina is committed to empowering her students through effective planning, unwavering support, and encouragement as they identify and achieve their goals. Drawing on her professional and personal experience, she emphasizes the importance of building strong connections and trust with each student.

In her consulting role, Nina takes a holistic approach, considering the whole student – how they learn, their social needs, interests, values, and aspirations. As an accountability partner, she adopts a hands-on approach to guide and mentor her clients through the college (or post-secondary) application process.

Based in San Diego, Nina collaborates with students across the country. When she’s not consulting, she loves boating, fishing, and horseback riding with her family, practicing yoga, reading, metal smithing, and coaching baseball for kids with special needs.
